Massimo Caggiano Designer

 

      Massimo Caggiano was born in Salerno in 1958. He lives and works in Rome. He’s the curator of the Association Il Polittico (founded together with Arnaldo Romani Brizzi), he conceived and organized several exhibitions, also in public places, dedicated to Italian, European and USA artists. His contribute is specific during the exhibition set up. Always in the sphere of this activity, he followed the preparation of an important exhibition in Japan, in Tokyo and Kyoto, dedicated to the paintings of the Bvlgari Collection, within the event Italia in Japan. He cured the installation of art works in various Bvlgari shops and, afterwards, in the Suites of St. Regis Grand Hotel in Rome, for the company Starwood.
      Then he specialized himself in the graphic setting of all the editions of catalogues, books and monographies of Il Polittico, more then one-hundred volumes so far.
      Since 1994 his professional activity is especially dedicated to the design of exclusive furniture and of complementary furnishings. He designed furniture that has been depicted by the most important Italian painters, creating unique and not repeatable pieces. Starting from 1994 he planned various furnishing collections, catalogued under names of planets and stars. With these productions, during the Milan fair, in April 1999, he made an exposition in Via Solferino; in May-June of the same year he presented the collection at the space Innovazione Design in Rome. In November 2000 he took part at the Italian design Furniture ShowChicago 2000, at the Merchandise Mart Properties. In this occasion the Bvlgari shop in Chicago dedicated its windows to the boxes of the Roma collection, designed by Massimo Caggiano. In 2001 he presented some furniture at the Snaidero space in Los Angeles and in the same period the Bvlgari shop in Los Angeles dedicated its windows to the boxes of the Roma collection.
      His design lines drew skilled attentions by the specialized press: his furniture and objects have been published several times on magazines like AD, La Mia Casa, Arte (Mondadori), Bella, Donna Moderna, Casa Idea and on Spanish magazines like Nuevo Estilo, La luna de metropolis, l’ABC, Arte de Vivir, AlterEgo, Unica, Telva, Mujer 21, En Portada and El Pais.
      In the number of February 2008 the AD magazine dedicated an article to his creative activity as a designer among the most original ones of the period.
      During the months of April and May 2004, in the city of Salerno, in the venue of the Santa Sofia Complex, has been held a big and exhaustive exhibition dedicated to his art collection. Titled Per Amore (For Love), the show aroused a great attention by the most qualified press.
      In 2005 he made a permanent exhibition at the show-room Peccato Veniale in Madrid and, always in Madrid, he took part at CasaDecor 2005, where he attracted more than three-thousand presences in the space that he realized.
      Still in 2005 Massimo Caggiano designed and realized some furniture, a couch and a few armchairs, for the new shop Enigma by Gianni Bulgari in Margutta street, in the centre of Rome.
      In the same year he cured and organized for the Senate of the Italian Republic the realization, by prestigious artists as Carlo Bertocci, Stefano Di Stasio, Giulio Durini di Monza, Angela Volpi, of portrait of some of the President of the Senate (Francesco Cossiga, Amintore Fanfani, Cesare Merzagora, Carlo Scognamiglio Pasini, Giovanni Spadolini, Marcello Pera, Giovanni Malagodi, Franco Marini), made for the portraits gallery of the Presidents of the Senate, that is under construction. He’s also author of the graphic setting of the catalogue-book related to the project, titled Presidenti ritratti (Portraits of Presidents).
      In 2006 he realized the project and cured the exhibition Quindici Anni at the prestigious Scuderie Aldobrandini in Frascati (Rome).
